Festival Images Nuisibles 6 Photographs September 2018
Nuisibles combines the insignificant with technology. Through the portraits of three insects devastating to the vine, Nuisibles demonstrates that what appears to be harmful and insignificant is in fact a technological concentrate that goes far beyond what humans are currently capable of doing. The portraits were captured using an electronic scanning machine; reappropriating a scientific tool for artistic purposes. Nuisibles questions the idea of photography itself; for although it uses its aesthetic codes, light is not part of the process; and so it asks: till what extent can an image be considered photographic?
